Teacher’s report to Successor

Woodin's Mill, July 8, 1892

The first grade is divided in to A and B divisions, the (A) can read quite good but the (B) has not attended school very steady they have learned about twenty words, can count, etc.

In numbers I have been teaching the combinations to ten, but of course the drill will still need to be practiced, none of the first grade are at present capable of passing into the Second Grade

The second grade know all the multiplication table to the 6’s, the Roman Numerals to fifty; They can add, subtract, multiply and divide but are not very rapid in their work.

__________ is classified here in the Third Grade but I see that she could not accomplish what was laid out for that grade to so she has been taking Second Grade work all term in every thing except reading.

___________ is classified in the Fourth Grade, but she is quite backward in Arithmetic and you may find it necessary to put her back into Third Grade.

It was intended that the examination sent by the Co. Comm.’s would be a fair test but as she was absent then she did not take the examination.

___________ has first finished fractions but I should advise that Properties of Numbers be reviewed before proceeding any farther. I found at the examination that he did not understand that.

___________ began at the Rev. War in History the examination was mostly about explorations and settlements and she did not get a very high percentage, A brief review I think would be advisable.

There was no report cards in the school and Mr. Jamison did not have any on hand so consequently I can leave no report of the examinations except the last one, but examinations were held at the close of each month during the term.
