ROSES FOR THE LIVING

 

                                                          Orin A. Kates

 

     This week’s picture is of Orin A. Kates of the Kates Company, Weidman, manufacturers

of Alfalfa Meal, which is being sold and distributed to feed mixers and poultry mash pro-

ducers throughout the state.

     For 20 years previous to 1928, Mr. Kates was engaged in the Hay and Produce shipping

business.  In 1928 he became connected with Auburn Rubber Corporation of Auburn, Ind.,

and was Sales Manager for that corporation for six years.

     In 1933 he moved to his farm in Gilmore Township, which he has owned for the past 20

years.

     About two years ago (in partnership with his brother, John Kates) he organized the Kates

Company of Weidman which has been of considerable benefit to the community, as it

Provides a new cash market for alfalfa hay.

     Our farmers appreciate having this market for their hay.  It is also a big asset to the busi-

ness men of the village in furnishing a cash outlet for a farm product that would have no

available outlet otherwise.

     Kates Brothers stand high in the estimation of the community as solid citizens and busi-

ness men, and all of us are rooting on the side lines for their success.
