The couple above are none other than Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith, taken June 20, 1937,

on their 20th wedding anniversary.

Marie’s parents came to Weidman when the village was just started.  Only eleven build-

ings could be counted then.

Her father, Wm. Delsworth, came to Weidman in 1894, and was one of the first to pur-

chase a lot of J. S. Weidman, on which he built a barber shop.

Marie was born March 15, 1897 and was the first girl baby to be born in the village.

Marie graduated from Weidman High school in 1915.  She has taught school twelve years,

in the intervening time attending Normal school at Mt. Pleasant.

She was married to Walter Smith June 20th, 1917, at her aunt’s, Mrs. James Bell’s, where

she had made her home for some time.

Marie  is an active member of Weidman M. E. Church, Ladies’ Aid, Eastern Star chapter,

Rebekah lodge, Past Noble Grands club.  She is a past noble grand and past worthy matron.

Marie is a most willing worker in all of her activities and is highly esteemed by all who

know her.

For 13 years Walter has taken care of a milk route in Weidman.  In addition the Smith

chicken dinners on Weidman Day have become famous.

So we say, greetings and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith.
