Dr. J. Gillett
No, the picture you see above is not Dr. Roy Dafoe, the famous quintuplet doctor. It is
our own Dr. Jesse Gillett. The only difference between these two doctors who look very
much alike is that Dr. Dafoe got two more babies. With the Simmer’s triplets, Dr. Gillett
came within two of equaling the world record.
No other country doctor is better known than Dr. Gillett; born in Macomb County in
1865, graduated from medical college in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1895. He came to
Weidman in 1911 and has practiced medicine here ever since.
A fine gentleman, a good citizen, a splendid physician, he has taken the part of the “Good
Samaritan,” and his many deeds of kindness—both in and out of the sick room—have en-
deared him to the hearts of the whole community.
