GEORGE MIDDLESWORTH
(transcribed by: L. Johnson)
This history has referred to George Middlesworth, who came here from Brinton and built a store and residence building on the south end of the business street. Here he conducted a general store for about 20 years. There were five children in the family—Jessie, Fey, John J., and the twins, George and Gerald, who were born here. The store was moved to its present location by Mr. Middlesworth and the old building was leased for a movie by Mr. Crane, then superintendent of schools. After the movie had run about two years, the building and contents were destroyed by fire.
We wish to add a word of commendation as to Mr. Middlesworth’s character. He was always foremost in all movements looking for the betterment of the village. He was an active and consistent member of the Methodist Church and he and his wife were always in attendance.
