ROSES FOR THE LIVING

                                                    Gerald Middlesworth

The picture in this week’s Messenger is one of our young business men who has always

taken an active part in the community welfare.  Always an ardent basketball fan and player,

and interested in sports of all kinds, he is always on the side lines at school games, and is

an ardent rooter.  He also played on the independent basketball team for several years.

Much credit is due Jerry, who is secretary of the Weidman Day association, Fred Bartlett,

president, and Glenn Scott, treasurer, for their untiring efforts in giving us one of the best

Weidman Day celebrations we have had in years.

Jerry was born January 16, 19011, in Weidman, and after completing the ninth grade of

School here, he and his brother, George, attended Mt. Pleasant High, graduating with high

Honors.

After graduating he came to help his father in the store.  In January, 1931, he became the

local representative for the Standard Oil Company and is still serving the people of this

community with Standard Products.

In October, 1929, he was married to Miss Eva Floria, to whom were born two very

promising children, Bruce and Karen Lynn.
