WEIDMAN BOYS WHO HAVE MADE GOOD

                                              (transcribed by: L. Johnson)

Frank Smith was born in Weidman January 14, 1906.

He graduated from Weidman High School in ’24, and from Central State Teachers

College in 1927, in the Manual Training department.  His first position as manual arts

teacher was in the East Jordan High School, where he taught two years;  then going to

Central Junior High, Saginaw, and later to Cliffland School, Detroit.  This summer Frank is

taking summer school in Ann Arbor.  Last summer he went to Maine as special teacher in a

boy’s camp.

Frank has always liked to make things.  He constructed, when a boy, various models of

houses and other objects, and whatever he does is done well.  His gifts are varied.  He is at

home with a paint brush, and his mother has some very tasty articles of furniture that Frank

has made.  A Central State professor, in giving the graduating address in Weidman two years

ago, volunteered the information that Frank was one of the best manual arts teachers Central

had ever graduated.  We are all gratified with the showing Frank has made, and are glad to

have him represent Weidman in the outside world.
