Lynn F. Rodgers, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, Passed away
on Friday April 5, 2002, at Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center in Midland.
Funeral services for Lynn will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Clark
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Obrecht of the First Church of the Nazarene
officiating. Interment will follow in Green Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Monday from 4 to 9
p.m. and on Tuesday, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Envelopes will be available
at the funeral chapel.
Lynn was born on Oct. 4, 1919, in Sherman City, the son of Frank and Mary (Bywater)
Rodgers. He served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1944. Lynn
married Bonnie Lou Thayer on Oct. 11, 1966 in Leaton. He had worked as a
truck driver for Blodgett Oil, Beard Oil and Allen Lumber. Lynn had also
worked in the Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation Department through Green Thumb.
On July 5, 1994, Lynn was attacked by the bear in Nelson Park, which he cared
for.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lou Rodgers, his children, Jeffrey Rodgers
of Cadillac, Janice Rodgers of Mt. Pleasant and Anissa Koch (Doug) of Midland;
four grandchildren, Lynese Schaaf, Christy Roof, Amber Hammond and Jennifer
Hammond; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Schaaf, Charlotte Schaaf, Corina Roof
and Gabriel Roof; and many nieces and nephews.
Lynn was preceded in death by his son Ronnie Rodgers and two sisters, Myra
Morton and Lois Jarrett.

SERVICE:
He served in U.S. WW II Army, enlistment on the 28 Aug 1940, term of
enlistment was for the Philippine Department, through the state of Michigan,
city of Detroit. He was in the Infantry Branch, which was Regular Army.
His military specialties were Basic Training, Rifleman, Truck Driver Light,
Auto Mechanic and Military Policeman. As a Military policeman he guarded
industrial plant and military post. Checked passes of all military and civilian
personnel entering and leaving posts or plants. Has knowledge of all small bore
firearms. Civil Occupation was Automobile Serviceman. He served in the Papuan
and New Guinea Campaigns.
He had an honorable discharge as a Private, Co A, 738th MP BN, Fort Sheridan,
ILL, on 11 Dec 1944, because of foot condition. Character at separation was
Excellent.

Bonnie Lou Rodgers, 75 of Mt. Pleasant passed
away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at The Laurels.
Funeral services for Bonnie will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on
Tuesday, September 30th at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Obrecht officiating.
Interment will follow at Green Cemetery in Isabella County. The family
will receive friends on Monday, September 29th from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or the American Diabetes
Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Bonnie was born on January 16, 1933 in Isabella County, the daughter of Ray and
Flossie (Phelps) Thayer. Bonnie was a member of the First Church of the
Nazarene and the D.A.V. Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ,
and accordion, as well as word search puzzles, reading, and visiting with
people.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Anissa (Douglas) Koch of Wheeler, MI,
step-daughter, Janice Rodgers of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Lynese Billings,
Amber and Jennifer Hammond, and Christy (Brett) Roof; great-grandchildren;
Charlotte Billings, Jessica Schaaf, Corina Roof, Gabriel Roof, and Cameron Roof;
brother, LeRoy (Beverly) Thayer of Midland; and sisters: Clarabelle (Harold)
Frankie of Shepherd, Phyllis Brown of Midland and Arla Joy Mason of Texas.
Bonnie was preceded in death by both of her husbands: Allen Cornell in 1965 and
Lynn Rodgers in 2002; brother Lloyd Thayer; and sisters Ila Mae Devoll and Doris
Lauer.
