Obituaries

 

Katherine Ulrich

   Katherine Ulrich passed away at her home in Remus, Sunday, December 13, after an illness of several weeks.

 

   She was born in Germany on July 15, 1862, and has resided in Remus since coming to this country from Germany when she was nine years old.  She was an active member of the Lutheran church.

 

   Survivors include: one son, Franklyn of Remus; two daughters, Bernice Wymann of Detroit, and Edna Hein of Remus; and five brothers: Adam, Louis, Peter and Theodore Diehm of Remus, and Leonard Diehm of Boyne City.  Her husband Conrad Ulrich, preceded her in death three years ago.

 

   Funeral services were conducted from the Lutheran church following a short service in the home on Wednesday afternoon, December 16, by the Rev. David Metzgar.  Vern Crittenden was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Charles Otis Lyon

    Funeral services were held at the Stinson funeral home, Wednesday afternoon, December 16, for Charles Otis Lyon, who was residing at the Munro House at the time of his death, Sunday, December 13.

  

    He was born in North Star on August 16, 1896.  A resident of mt. pleasant for three years, Mr. Lyons was employed as a mechanic at Mogg’s garage in Mt. Pleasant. 

  

   The Rev. W. H. Brunelle officiated at the services and Stinson and Sons were in charge of arrangements.

 

   Surviving are: his wife, Lyla Lyon, of Lake George; and five children, Ward C., Charles D., Jack, Pat, and Dick.

 

 

Charles Mrazek

   Funeral services will be held at the Rush funeral home at ten o’clock Thursday morning for Charles Mrazek, of Beal City, who was a victim of the hotel fire, Sunday morning, December 13.

 

   Charles Mrazek was born September 17, 1935 in Ashley.

 

   Survivors include: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mrazek of R-4, Mt. Pleasant; four brothers, Louis of Owosso, Cpl. Emil of California, Pvt. Joe in the southwest Pacific and John at home; and six sisters, Anna Boules of Flint, Ella O’Hare, Louis Ball, Agnes Moore and Rosemary and Mary Anne of Mt. Pleasant.

 

 

Michael Duffy

   Solemn requiem mass was held at ten o’clock Tuesday morning at the St. Patrick’s Church in Irishtown by the Rev. F. Kirkoff for Michael Duffy who lost his life in the fire at the Munro House Sunday morning, December 13.

 

   Michael Duffy was born in Lincoln township on September 15, 1893.  He was a veteran of World War I.

 

   Surviving are four brothers and one sister – Bernard of Shepherd; Pvt. Paul in the army; and John, Jim, Dan, and Sarah of Lansing.

 

   Burial was made in St. Patrick’s cemetery.  J.J. Rush was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Jacqueline Ann Coyne

   Prayer services were held at the grave in Riverside cemetery, Saturday, December 12, for Jaxqueline Ann Coyne, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Coyne, who died on that day, four days after birth.

 

   The Rev. Charles Mackenzie officiated at the service with Stinson and Sons in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Sarah Elisabeth Caldwell

   Sarah Elisebeth Caldwell passed away at her farm home near Mt. Pleasant, on Wednesday, December 9.

 

   Sarah Caldwell was born in Pennsylvania.  In 1866 at the age of four years, she moved with her parents to Michigan.  For the past seventy years, she has resided on the farm where she was living at the time of her death.  She was married to James Caldwell on December 24, 1893.

 

   James Caldwell, her husband, is her only survivor.
