Death of Harvey Comins
The funeral of Harvey L. Comins, late of Beiville, Ontario, took place Wednesday afternoon, from the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Thresher, 300 Lansing street. Rev. W. H. Long was the officiating minister, deceased having been a life-long member of the Presbyterian church. Many friends of the family, former residents of Ontario and relatives from around the country, assembled to pay their last respects to this fine old gentleman.
Mr. Comins came from Beiville about three months ago as was with his daughter for some weeks before falling health caused him to go to St. Mary’s hospital at Saginaw for treatment. His condition being very serious nothing was done for permanent relief and the patient was removed to the home of his sister, Mrs. Fred Wellington of that city, where death relieved his sufferings on October 1. Monday the remains were brought here to the Thrasher home and his wife and son came from Canada. Another son in Saskatchewan country was unable to be present. Interment took place in Riverside.
Death of Mrs. Purtill
Francis Nold was born in Germany in 1845, and Nov. 7, 1865, at Norford, Canada, was married to Edward Purtill. In 1884 they moved to Isabella county and located in Deerfield where they continued to live until her death. Eleven children, four girls and seven boys were born to them, eight of whom with the husband survive: James of Spokane; John of Mt. Pleasant; Daniel of Lakeview; Will of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Ed Jorore of Bentley; Mrs. M. E. Kenney and Miss Sarah.
Mrs. Purtill died very suddenly Sunday. The funeral was held at Sacred Heart church Wednesday morning and interment took place in Calvary. Deceased was an estimable woman and her death is mourned by a large circle of frineds.
